Shubhashree Young Barista Competition

The Hotel Management department of Shubhashree College of Management organized a Barista competition entitled “Shubhashree Young Barista Competition” within the college premises (Training Coffeeshop) for the current BHM 2nd semester students. The objective of the competition was to judge and evaluate students theoretical and practical knowledge and skills/techniques associated in production and deliverance of the coffee brew. The competition was a battle of 14 students and happened in 4th Ashar 2081 (18th June 2024). 

Fourteen (14) students actively participated in event from that specific semester. The event kick started with an initial briefing from the BHM Coordinator and from where round 1 began. The initial first round was the preparation of Americano (single shot). Every contestant delivered actively participated and demonstrated their skill and from where 4 contestants were brought forward as semi finalists for round 2.

Round 2 was the skill and technique demonstration in regard to milk frothing. And out of which 2 were selected for final round. The 2 finalists were Suraj Tamang and Divya Thapa. 

For the final round, the contestants were asked to prepare coffee with an art. Out of which Divya Thapa delivered a fantastic coffee with an astonishing art and thus Divya as a winner was declared by our guest judges. The judging panel consisted of Mr. Nabin Kanaujiya (Coffee Trainer/Entrepreneur) and Mr. Bhu Prasad Sharma (Food and Beverage Expert). The final session came to an end with distribution of awards for the winners and to the participants from the head of institute Ms. Manita Oli.
